Mike Hobbs - Director of Golf

Mike Hobbs is a golf professional who received his training at Pennard under Mike Bennett from 1987 to 1992. He has been a golf coach at Gowerton Golf Range since 1992 where he started with Mike Hobbs Golf School. In partnership with Gethin Collins, they founded SGL Swansea Golf Lessons, which has become the busiest golf academy in Swansea. Since 2020, Mike has taken on a dual role of coaching and overseeing all golf operations at Fairwood Park Golf Club. Mike offers P.G.A lessons with an advanced video swing analysis system for avid golfers and golf professionals. This allows us to record your swing from different angles. The footage will be analysed subsequently and compared with the swing of a professional golfer, also on video. Seeing and analysing your swing provides visual feedback with a view to studying and improving your technique. The system gives a crystal clear image in slow motion, pause or at normal speed. Gethin Collins (Gowerton Golf Range)

Gethin Collins is a golf professional with a diverse background in the sport. He trained under Mark Evans at Fairwood and Langland Bay Golf Club and became qualified in 1998. Afterward, he pursued a full-time competitive golf career. In 2002, he moved to Sydney, Australia, where he continued to compete in golf and also specialized in custom fitting. In 2003, Gethin became the head coach at Cardiff Golf Centre and later served as the head professional at Garnant Park from 2005 to 2009. In 2010, he joined forces with Mike Hobbs at Gowerton Golf Range, where they initiated SGL Swansea Golf Lessons, which has grown to become the busiest golf coaching academy in Swansea. Their partnership expanded further when they both joined Fairwood Park Golf Club in 2020, with Gethin taking on a dual role as head coach and golf operations manager. Lessons will be delivered using the Golf Coach app and GCQuad Launch Analysis.
